What do colours mean?

Image 23

A blue circle always represents a connection. When one of your pearl is circled in blue, it means that at least another user is crossing you on this pearl. To identify him, you have to click on the pearl and click “Connections” in the detail window. You can thus navigate from pearltree to pearltree to  discover others pearls on common interests.

When one pearltree is circled in blue, it means that that some users are following this pearltree.

In both cases, connected users belong to the same group of discussion. When a pearl or a pearltree is circled in orange it means that another user left a note on it. You’ll be notified if someone leaves a note on one of your pearl or on one of the pearltree you follow, so that you can discuss with like-minded people!

Usually the two colours are mixed. The wider the colours are spread around the pearltree, the more it is followed or commented.

The Pearl’s Gazette

Hey editors and visitors!

Today there are two great news. First, we were quite concerned about loadings lengths and lack of speed in the player. Our team worked hard on this issue and now pearltrees’ speed has increased by 50%! We hope you will appreciate this update!
Besides, if you go to the tab “share” (in the pearl window) you will notice that the button “embed” is now available. It allows you to publish maps in your blog or website. You just need to follow the instructions and paste the link in a HTML format.

This is the first Gazette with embed maps!

architecture

First Bil’s great map presents pearls about Japanese architects and architectures, the project Ordos 100 and a huge catalogue gathering the major websites dedicated to architecture.

Paris métropolitain

This map made by Frederic is also very comprehensive and contains loads of information about Paris’ economics, clusters, global insitutions and urbanism issues. I advise you to wander through his account, there are some precious cultural treasures into it!

Design

Not so far from architecture, in Audrey’s map you will find well known design websites and designers homepage.

Enjoy!

That’s how we do it

So far we did not say much about the way we organize our work in pearltrees. It seems a good time to reveal a little bit of the mystery:

One of our goal is to integrate the added value and constraints of developers, designers, product architect, marketing, finance… Here is a short description of our conciliation process:

First, two groups are clearly distinguished

  • The technical team: the technical architect, developers, production engineer
  • The product team: the product architect, the designer, a representative of consumers point of view whose mission is to define some “briefs” to detail what should be achieve in each user stories.

1.    A common meeting to establish the key element of an iteration (4 hours) :

  • The general objectives
  • The user stories to achieve
  • The allocation of human and time resources for each user stories
  • An iteration planning
  • The identification inputs points between developers and designer

2.    A daily morning meeting (10′) in front of the general planning where developers tell what they have the day before and what they will do the following day. It is a great opportunity to see the integration needs between the technical and product team

3.    A weekly product meeting to show the achievements of the week and discuss the iteration planning.

I  think this process works quite well, but you can make your own opinion by testing pearltrees.
