OK…
I joined.
I have a user name.
I have an account set up.
I have created pearls.
NOW…
When I go to my page, my pearls are there, my account show up, but my drop thingy is gone. Every time I try to do something, it asks me to login, but won’t let me. It says I need to join. So when I go to join, which I’m sure I already did, it tells me the “user name” I have chosen is not available–which, of course, it wouldn’t be because I ALREADY HAVE AN ACCOUNT.
Hi Gary,
Can you send me an email (antoine.msika@pearltrees.com) in order to give me a few additionnal details please ?
I would need to know your username, and also how you try to “do something” (directly on pearltrees.com or with the extension, in this case, which browser do you use ?)
This will help us to understand what happens and of course, to give you back access to your account
Thank you very much
Hi, just wondering because I couldn’t find this in any of your blogs or anything. but I’ve noticed that some of the lines to pearls are bolded and others aren’t; I was wondering what that meant?
@nicolao : can you send me more details about what happenned and your username please ? (participation@pearltrees.com) This will help us to understand what’s happenning and to find them back (because they are certainly not gone with the wind 😉 )
@xanydee the bolder a link between two pearltrees, the more pearls there are in the pearltree. It’s an easy way for you to see quickly if a pearltree has a lot of pearls or just a few 🙂
Love the idea of Pearltrees but having to stop recoimmeding it as there are problems within.
I have tried importing my Delicious bookmarks in several times and it hasn;t “taken” once – even though I continually get advised that it is IN my account – great – where is it?
Also, although logged in and with a near fully working site I am told I need a new “Key” – what is that ?
Then there’s the reply notifications that are by email and without any content or comment – and the links are clumsy
This would be an EXCELLENT replacment to browser bookmarks – but I think I am going to have to pass – it’s too “buggy”
Hi John,
I’m sorry that you had these issues, which seem unusual.
About the email notifications, can you send them to us (participation@pearltrees.com) we will investigate to understand what happens with the links.
About your Delicious import, have you checked that your bookmarks are public and not private? We only import the public ones, so if they are private, they won’t be in your Pearltrees account.
You can only customize your pearltrees’ avatar. The pearls are illustrated with the favicon of the website in order to be easier for everybody to quickly understand what’s in the pearl 🙂
Hi, I’m a new comer from indonesia. Actually I still confuse to operate pearltrees, please for give me if I make some mistakes to operate it. I hope u give me some instructions to operate it well. thank’s a lot.
Hi mashuri,
Here’s a video that will be very helpful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBy6jnmht3U
And if you have any question, feel free to send us an email (participation@pearltrees.com) we’ll be happy to help 🙂
There used to be a way to add a pearl button to your browser toolbar. This would be a good idea, but of course there’s absolutely nothing on your site that indicates it’s available.
Fairly sad statement about a web site’s organization when you have to find Pearltrees extension with Google.
Of course I’ve only spent 10 minutes looking on your web site.
I thought that Pearltrees would be a great alternative to Bookmarks in Firefox, which are very cumbersome to reorganize and view. However, I can’t find an efficient way to add my existing bookmarks to pearltrees. There is no import function, except for Delicious. There is apparently no way to drag and drop them, in groups, or even one at a time. If I will have to open all 200 or so bookmarked pages individually in order to pearl them, this is not the organizational tool I thought it was. Moving things around and viewing them easily, as shown in the videos, is great. But most of us have years worth of bookmarked pages to add in the first place. Am I missing something? Is there a simple way to do this?
Once you make a way to import (hopefully simply drag) firefox bookmarks into pearl tree, I hope you also have a way to keep them in 2-way sync. I would gladly pay for that functionality as a premium feature. I see pearls as a wonderful supplement to my bookmarks, but not a replacement.
I like pearltrees a lot but i’m missing an android apllication and an ios application. I have a tablet with android honeycomb, a iPhone with iOS 4.0 and a desktop PC. I would like to have them all synchronized and i would like to have offline access to my tree. Are any of these functionality in line for future development?
Some of these functionalities are on the roadmap.
We will release an iPad app very soon, and an iPhone app a little bit later. The android app is not planned yet, but we are considering creating one at some point 🙂
This has happened twice now. I’m trying to organize my pearl and trees. I dragged one tree to another and saw the turquoise line connecting the. I let go and it disappeared. These were my two favorite trees. Are they gone forever? If not, how do I find them? I don’t see them anywhere.
Hi,
Don’t worry they are not gone forever 🙂
First thing, have you checked if they are in your dropzone ? If they are not, can you tell me your username and the title of these pearltrees and we’ll have a look. Thanks.
I love Pearltrees 🙂 !
Thank you for making it.
I find a site I want. I have already embedded my pearltree in my class lms and blog. I can add resources for my students as soon as I find them. (I think the private or limited sharing of some pearltrees is a good idea btw)
Best wishes,
SyrianPrince
So I was logged into my account (Username: liquidrainbows) and I realized that I had actually created two accounts. The other account (Username: liquidrainbows7) was the main account I had been using to pearl content so I decided to delete the liquidrainbows account. It said that I was logged into that account, so I went to go delete it, but when I came back to the site, the liquidrainbows account was still there and my main account (liquidrainbows7) was gone! And all my content with it! It seems that I was somehow logged into both accounts at the same time and, since they both have the same password, I had no idea until it was already done.
Can I get my account back? And also, is there a way to fix the problem of being logged into two accounts simultaneously on the same computer/browser?
You can use two accounts on the same computer, but not on the same browser, since you can only be logged in one account at a time in the same browser.
As for your deleted account, I’m very sorry for this but unfortunately we cannot recover a deleted account.

Hi sirdigbycc,
You are very welcome to make feature requests 🙂
1. You can already create a sub-tree that you can link to another sub-tree : once created it, just grab it with your mouse, and drag it where you want 🙂 If you drag it over another pearltree it will open it and you will be able to put it in there.
2.You can manage how you open the trees: if you click on the ” +” that is next to some pearltreee you will open them, without closing the other ones 🙂

Is there a way to keep the subtree and pearl structure open while you navigate your pearltrees. So to say my wife would like to have a number of parallel pearltrees open, while navigating through others.. Is there something like a lock button to keep a pearltree unfolded? Would you be able to implement this if its not yet possible? Thank you so much again for making pearl trees!

After reading the questions and comments above; I’ve come to understand that anything published, (currently) on our pearltrees is basically public like on Facebook, until we go in manually and make our changes: public, friends-of-friends, just friends, just family and/or close friends, and other sub-groups.
I’m also very new to pearltrees & read above where you are to implement a new privacy tool. I guess my question is this : Is everything we’ve elected to include in peartrees up until this point published publicly, for anyone on the web to access, retain or even republish to those unfamiliar with pearltrees?
Another concern is why there are so many pearls (people) on my tree that contain people I’ve never heard of and are from so many different nationalities? Can anyone, anywhere simply add themselves as a pearl on a branch of my pearltree? If this is truly the case then I must, (keep) but discontinue utilizing my pearltree, until the privacy option is implemented, and available for use. Had I been aware of this when I first joined pearltrees, I would have certainly waited. It simply seemed like such a great tool when I first joined. Linda Long
Hi Linda,
For the moment, everything is public on Pearltrees, so you can share your collections with everybody. We will introduce soon a premium option enabling people to keep their pearltrees private.
Also, you can pick other people’s pearltree and put them in your account to follow their activity, but people can’t add themselves to your pearltrees 🙂
How do I expand my entire Pearltree so that I can see so that I can see every pearl and pearltree that I have? Where could I have found the answer to this question on my own?
OK…
I joined.
I have a user name.
I have an account set up.
I have created pearls.
NOW…
When I go to my page, my pearls are there, my account show up, but my drop thingy is gone. Every time I try to do something, it asks me to login, but won’t let me. It says I need to join. hi, Antoine
I can export the pearls in extent. rdf, but to import the same. rdf, as I do?!
tks
@pangasius: you can find our extension directly on Pearltrees, by going to the “extension” section of the settings

Hello,
Is it possible to set some trees as public and others as private?
I think Pearltrees is great not only for connecting and sharing, but also for being able to access one’s bookmarks/follow-ups anytime, anywhere.
If a privacy feature could be added, I would feel comfortable sharing the site with and spreading the word to more people.
Thanks,
TheSilverSeas

I have some good news for you : we will implement a “private pearltrees” feature in a few months 🙂

The dreaded 404 and domain name takeovers are two of the biggest problems we face when linking to outside pages on the Internet.

Two questions:
1) Is there any way to open every sub-pearltree within a pearltree? For instance have my whole ‘work’ pearltree spring open in it’s entirety? It seems pretty pointless to open every folder one after the other when the whole point of a visual system like this would be to expand everything and quickly navigate to it…..

And yes we have to organise it like this as it needs to be broken out by project to be shared with the right people…
2) I use a lot of foreign-language sites and rely on Chrome to translate. Is there any way to open links in a new browser tab with one click. (this is a minor quibble really, point 1 is a deal-breaker for me.)
