Regarding the question I just asked at 10:26, (actually it was 1:26 here), I found the answer after reading further on the comments and questions made by others. Thanks.
This is kind of an advance feature 😉
Here’s the process to organize your pearltrees like in your example.
Open Tree2 by clicking on the “+” that is next to it.
Drag tree1 to the small x pearl at the end of the pearltree and link it to it.
Click on the x pearl, and here you are 🙂
Be careful: in this case, tree2 is behind tree1 and not inside. So if someone pick your pearltree tree1 to follow its activity, he won’t follow tree2, but only the pearls that are actually within tree1.
I really love the basic concept too. I just miss a bit of a more intuitive and “visionary” way of navigating the trees. I know you said to @Andrew that one can pick pearl links from the list view, but isn’t the list view just like my browser bookmarks menu?
I wish there was a way to unfold/expand a whole tree with one click. or have a preference option to always display all trees completely unfolded.
Or maybe quickly open sets of branches on simple (mouse only) roll overs? Because it’s unfortunately true, its a pain to click through all the pearls to get to a link and using the list few defies the whole point of using pearltree, right?
I was wondering if you plan on having above features implemented at some stage, or if you keep on referring people to the list few to see all the links in a tree? because then I’ll rather spend not anymore time on using it.
Hi Peter,
Thank you for your feedback.
We are constantly working to make it easier and easier to navigate through your library.
You can open a pearltree without closing its parent by clicking on the “+” that is next to it. An “expand all” button may be a good idea, if you’re pearltree is not too big, but if you have many hundreds of links in your pearltrees, it will make it very difficult to navigate and read 😉
What you can do to find quickly a pearl in your account is to use the search bar to search within your account (by clicking onthe magnifying glass)
Kind regards
Antoine
Please make an ‘expand all’ button! For me, it would mean using Pearltrees more often. I think this is a bookmarking service with great potential, especially for designers and artist of multiple disciplines.
It would be great to have simple ‘editing tools’ for the ‘parent trees’, options such as making the title text bigger or a different colour. People LOVE to colour code and customise, and although uploading an image is possible, it’s kind of long winded.
Also, (though I may be missing a trick by not properly exploring) is there some kind of Pearltree community? Perhaps where you could find other peoples’ trees who are interested in similar subjects? I guess that could begin a long cataloging of subject matter and tags…but it could strengthen some kind of knowledge web.
Thank you for your feedback !
You can find a lot of pearltrees related to your interests and curated by others member of the community by clicking on the “related interests” button 🙂
How come when I login through my extension it says I entered a wrong password, yet when I login through the site it’s fine. Once I go to the site & login the extension recognizes it, so I am able to use it. It would just be nice to be able to login through the extension rather than having to open up the website.
Hi, Gloria. I’m with Pearltrees. This isn’t normal behavior. If you could email me perhaps I can get some additional details and we can trouble shoot the issue. You can reach me at: oliver.starr at pearltrees dot com
We elected to launch our iPhone app first for technical and market reasons. We are currently working on the Premium version with privacy features and expect to have it released in late September or Early October. Thanks for your patience!
I exported my Pearltrees data to an .rdf file just to back them up. But what can I do with the .rdf file? Can I import it into my browser bookmarks or a bookmarking site?
Hi. You can’t import the RDF file to your browser but you can display it there. You’ll be able to see all your pearls and pearltrees data : title, URL, date, comments, etc. They’re displayed using W3C standards.
We’ll soon release an HTML export which will enhance readability.
Hi! I’m interested in using Pearltrees to help me visualize relationships where multiple sites are related to multiple others. Can I link nodes so that they form, for example, a square shape?
Hi, ewargcy! Thanks for your question. In Pearltrees only hierarchical relationships can be created. You can of course have the same pearl in multiple pearltrees but they would then be in distinct nodes within the same or other pearltrees.
Hi! I LOVE Pearltrees and find it a better fit for me than any other bookmarking site. I do have one problem with it. I am unable to load the pearler and keep it loaded. I have tried both chrome and explorer. Is there a better browser to use for this tool? Thanks!
Annie, hi. I work for Pearltrees. I think I might be able to help you better if we take this to email. Can you email me some details about this issue? Oliver dot Starr at Pearltrees dot com
In particular it would be helpful to know:
Your OS and OS Version
Your Browser and Browser Version
anything in particular that you noticed about the behavior of the pearler.
Hello, I can not find the “recover password” help anywhere. Fortunately my macbook is still logging me in, but I can’t get your app going on my iphone until I reset my password, and I can’t do that until I remember my old one. 🙂 Chicken, egg, chicken, egg… Can you please help me? Thanks.
To reset your password you can go on http://www.pearltrees.com from a computer. Then you go to your profile (top right of your screen) and then to account. You’ll be able to reset your password easily.
What’s the trick to upload an avatar. Every picture is refused by the system. Can’t find the size or file formats. Why make such a simple process so damn complicated. Just accept the image uploaded and re-size it. If you were smart enough to create Pearltrees, why are you smart to make this happen???
Hi, normally, it your image is less than 700 kb and is in a classic format (png, jpg…) it should works without any problem.
If it doesn’t, can you tell me what browser and what version of it you’re using please ? Are you on Mac Windows or Linux ? On which version ?
Also, are you on your own PC or on a PC from work, chich can have some restrictions ?
I’ve been browsing online more than 3 hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.|
I couldn’t resist commenting. Perfectly written!|
I want to get one of these, but my girlfriend won’t allow me!

I accidentally hit don’t allow access to my photos and now I can’t change the avatars as the privacy setting option that I’m told to go won’t work as it’s for premium members only. Please help!
To re-enable access to the photos on your iOS device once you’ve denied them initially you need to go to your phone settings (not the settings menu in Pearltrees),
then from there you should go to the privacy menu,
next to photos and finally scroll to pearltrees and make sure it is enabled to access photos from your device.
This capability has nothing to do with our Premium feature-set and relates specifically to the permissions you establish on your phone. I’ve made some images to help you out as well. This is where you should go and what you should see. Please make sure your setting matches mine and you will be able to access the photos on your device with Pearltrees.
Hi,
I’ve created a pearltree and I wanted to share it with my colleagues for them to be able to contribute to it by adding more pearls. I’ve used the “create a team” option and invited a colleague via email. She has followed the link, clicked on her “notifications” and it says that this notification has expired (but I have just sent it to her!). We seem no to be able to dot it. How can I do it?
Hi,
This is an uncommon issue… Have you moved the pearltree after sending her the invitation ?
Can you try to invite her again please, and if it’s still not working, please let us know.
Kind regards
Antoine
Thank you. I’ve repeated the process and it has worked now. But in any case it was funny because I tried with several people and the way to do it changed for every go. Sometimes they saw the pearltree appearing automatically with the puzzle piece reading “team up”; others had to go to the notifications icon; others had access to the pearltree with a green piece that read “you’ve got an invitation to team up”. When accepting the invitation, sometimes a yellow piece appeared (your request has been sent”)….. it’s been a bit messy to explain to them what they had to do.
By the way, how can I remove a collaborator from a team I’ve created? I’ve seen that I can leave a team I’ve been invited to join, but I can’t find a way to remove someone from my team. Can you help me, please? Thank you

Since the new update the view on Pearltree has changed. It used to be as a link diagram but now it is linear (one page after the next) which makes no sense anymore.
How can I get back to the original setting/view?
Hi fpallez,
Pearltrees 1 is still accessible in the menu “my account”. However, the new visualization worth more than a try. We know very well the old version for having created and perfected it over the past years. When we say we’ve kept the organizational qualities, we really mean it. So please, compare side by side the two versions.
Will the “restore deleted pearls” feature and the im- and export feature be part of the new pearltrees as soon as Pearltree 1 (with those features) becomes eliminated?
Deuxpont, hi. Thanks for your question. We do plan to restore these capabilities in Pearltrees 2, however not all of them will be available coincident with the end of Pearltrees 1.
Hello! I just came BACK to PearlTrees after a hiatus. I know a lot of people like the “grid” thing, but is there a way I can use the “classic” version with dots and connections? I would really like that as it gives me an organizational edge while adding a collection of related items in categories. Also, for me personally the grid is “messy” compared to the elegance of the original tree. IMHO that is.
You can move a section with a simple click-and-hold drag. However, it won’t drag the items of the section with it. You’ll have to move them separetely.

Noob question, how do I link a tree with other tree.
See for example:
Tree1—-Tree2—-Tree3
I know I can do it with pearls and move trees inside trees but how do I make a branch of trees?
I’ve seen several that way.
Hi Alpihinux,

Hi, you can rename your root pearltree by going in the identity menu of the settings. Yet, this is only available from a computer for the moment.

If you’re the founder of a team you can remove a member by clicking on “freeze” in the detail window of the team 🙂
I’m unable to upload my avatar. It’s 250 x 250 and only 61KB. I’ve used Explorer, Mozilla, Chrome. None of them allow me to upload.

All my pearls suddenly disappeared and my account is emty. How can I restore my pearls? Does it mean that Pearltrees system is not reliable?
Hi,
Pearltrees is completely reliable and no pearls disappear accidentally.
Can you precise me your username please ? We’ll see what’s going on.
I can not log on to pearltrees, been trying for two days.
What is going on?
What happens exactly when you you try ?
