beta 0.6 release will mark the entrance of Pearltrees in the real time era. Pearltrees becomes the first web RIA to be in real time. Beyond the engineering achievement, it enables everyone to organize her or his web as in real life, in only two clicks.

• Pearltrees goes real time to offer a more natural experience. Every action, wherever on the web, impacting your account will be reflected immediately in Pearltrees. You don’t need to refresh anymore. Pearltrees makes the F5 button useless. Hence, when you pearl while browsing on multi-tabs or on several windows, you can see instantaneously your pearltree expanding.

• Organize your web in two clicks.

Not only are interactions in real time, but also the Firefox and Internet Explorer add-ons enable you to pearl directly in your account via a tree shaped list of all your pearltrees. So when you see an interesting content while browsing:

1. Click the 1st button to pearl it (turn the web content into a pearl)
2. Click the 2nd button to choose the destination of your pearl in your account

Pearltrees is more than ever the must-have assistant to make something out of your browses.

• Jump directly to the updates of the pearltrees you follow! You probably picked some interesting pearltrees in other users accounts. Maybe you even saw them blinking when they were updated with new content. From now on, you don’t need to look for the novelties in others pearltrees: click on « Direct Go » to jump directly to the updates. You can discover in one click all the novelties in Pearltrees that matter to you. So don’t hesitate: pick and follow everything that interests you!

• Pearltrees and Twitter ever more integrated. You can share your pearltrees automatically with all your followers (« auto-twitt »). You can also write your twitt directly in Pearltrees. No need to go to your Twitter account. For those who synchronized their Twitter account with Pearltrees (« auto-pearl »), the hashtag required to put directly a pearl in a given pearltree from Twitter (e.g., #nameofthepearltree) is now more tolerant to typos : the synchronization will recognize the pearltree in which your web content must be stored.

• A better search ranking for your pearltrees. As you know, each pearltree has an unique URL and it can be referenced on search engines. The technical team upgraded the presentation of your pearltrees to improve their ranking. It will thus increase the visibility of your editions…!

• More space for a better experience. The pearl window, that pops up when you click on a pearl, can now be docked in your tool bar: you have thus more place for your organization. Moreover, the names of the pearltrees in your dropzone and in your pearlmail inbox are now displayed. When you browse into a pearltree, the navigation bar is now more discreet to improve the visibility of the websites.

Pearltrees beta 0.6 marque l’entrée du réseau d’intérêts humain dans l’ère du Real-time. Pearltrees, devient ainsi la première application web en interface riche à fonctionner en temps réel. Concrètement, chacun peut organiser son web naturellement et en deux clics seulement.

• Pearltrees passe au temps réel rendant son approche plus naturelle. Chaque action effectuée quelque part sur le Web impactant votre compte est désormais répercutée immédiatement dans ce dernier. Plus besoin de rafraîchir sa page, Pearltrees rend la touche F5 obsolète. Ainsi, lorsque vous perlez vos navigations en multi-tab ou avec plusieurs fenêtres vous pouvez voir immédiatement l’évolution de vos pearltrees.

• Organisez votre web en deux clics. Non seulement, les interactions sont en temps réel mais le module Firefox ou IE vous propose de perler directement dans votre compte via une liste arborescente de tous vos pearltrees. Donc lorsque vous naviguez et que vous tombez sur un contenu qui vous intéresse :

1. cliquez sur le 1er bouton pour perler (transformer le contenu en perle)
2. cliquez sur le 2ème bouton pour choisir la destination de votre perle dans votre monde

Pearltrees est plus que jamais l’assistant indispensable pour faire quelque chose de vos navigations.

• Accès direct aux nouveautés des pearltrees que vous suivez ! Vous avez surement pris certains pearltrees intéressants à d’autres utilisateurs. Peut-être même les avez-vous vu clignoter parce qu’il y avait du nouveau. Et bien, plus besoin de rechercher la nouveauté dans les pearltrees des autres, vous cliquez sur « Direct Go » et vous accédez directement à la nouveauté. Vous aurez donc tout le loisir de découvrir en 1 clic toutes les nouveautés des pearltrees qui vous intéresse. N’hésitez plus, prenez et suivez tout ce qui vous intéresse.

• Pearltrees et Twitter toujours plus intégrés. Vous pouvez partager vos pearltrees directement depuis Pearltrees avec tout vos followers (abonnés).  Vous avez également la possibilité de twitter  directement à l’intérieur de Pearltrees.

Pour ceux qui ont synchronisé leur compte avec Twitter : sachez que l’hashtag nécessaire à cette classification (ex : #nomdupearltree) est plus tolérant aux erreurs. Si vous omettez un accent, un espace ou bien encore s’il y a une erreur dans votre saisie, la synchronisation fonctionnera malgré tout et reconnaîtra le pearltree destinataire dans lequel il doit ranger votre contenu web.

• Un meilleur référencement de vos pearltrees. Comme vous le savez chaque pearltrees dispose d’une URL lui permettant d’être référencé sur tous les moteurs de recherche.

Aujourd’hui l’équipe technique a travaillé à une meilleure présentation de vos pearltrees qui permet un référencement optimal. Chacune de vos éditions va donc gagner en visibilité…

• Plus de place pour plus de plaisir. La fenêtre d’aperçu (dite « pearlwindow ») qui apparaît lorsque vous  cliquez sur une perle peut désormais être dockée  (réduite et placée dans la barre d’outils) à tout moment libérant ainsi davantage de place pour votre zone d’organisation. D’autres part, les noms des perles et des pearltrees sont lisibles depuis le “panier” et les “perles reçues”. Enfin, lorsque vous “parcourez” vos Pearltrees la barre de navigation se fait plus discrète pour maximiser la visualisation des sites perlés.

1. Story vs key words

In Pearltrees it is all about building the world of your interests. A pearltree represents a given interest. A pearltree is made of pearls and each pearls represents a web content. So what is new? In Pearltrees, you use pearls (web content : posts, comments, vids, pics…) to tell a story on your interest in a the way that makes sense for you. I am really interested in the Beatles, but I am interested in this band in a very special way that I could not tell with key words (tags). But I can tell you how I like the Beatles with a pearltree. Why? Because I can chose the order in which I will present the contents I have selected, I can choose the title of my pearls. I am the curator of my web about the Beatles. And interest by interest, pearltree by pearltree, I am building the world of my interests. In a nutshell, Pearltrees is about enabling people to curate their vision of what they are interested in whereas bookmarking activities is all about not loosing some webpages.

2. Alone you can be strong, but you cannot be powerful

It is really hard to bookmark collaboratively. First, a lot of people want to keep their bookmarks private. But even if people would like to share their findings, tags are too ambiguous. They remind me of the Babel tower story. Everybody points out the same thing with a different word. So, in a bookmarking service you can be strong individually but you will never have the power to harness the collective intelligence. In Pearltrees, it’s very different. People meet on common URL. There is no ambiguity. For example, many people love photography! But it could be a job, an art, a way to keep souvenirs and everybody calls it “photography”. The only way to distinguish between these different meanings  is to look at the specific contents there are interested in. You can then gather those who are interested in the same things within “photography”. So each of those group will have a valuable and accurate benefit from others and they will be collectively much more powerful. That is Pearltrees!

3. Organizing is a step, re-organizing is life

Have you ever noticed that you do not see things now as you did six months ago. Bob Dylan sang the times they are changing. Now imagine that every time you are altering your views you would have to re-tag each of your bookmarks. Difficult isn’t it? In Pearltrees, you have all your interests (not a library of bookmarks) and within each of them everything is movable and everyone is moving stuff all the time. You can take a pearl or a pearltree and move it. You can even move a whole branch. You can also delete your pearls. And as your account includes also other users’s pearltrees, you can enjoy how others are moving on their interests. Pearltrees is like life, because it is built to be easily reorganized at anytime.
