Pearltrees beta 0.7.2 rocks! We had one obsessive goal last month: improving your web-browsing experience!

So, what’s new?

1/ Speeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

• Fewer clicks: no more click to update the detail window, a mere mouse-over is enough!

• The pre-fetch effect! While you are browsing a pearltree, we will pre-load the other pearls. So when you click next, it goes really faster. In a way, Pearltrees accelerates the web! However, we still have to process the 2 million pearls within Pearltrees and that should last two weeks… So be patient for a week or two.

2/ Clear, Crystal clear!

It is always a great challenge to make everything clear. We are struggling a lot to make Pearltrees really convenient to use. So, here’s what we have added:

• tool tips  to the different buttons around the pearls

• animations to explain the meaning of certain actions

• key information and zoom on pearls’ title when the detail window is closed

• Full-screen videos in the browser. This upgrade is currently available for the most famous video services (Youtube, Dailymotion…) and we will keep on integrating the all other video services!

3/ The more the merrier!

You may have already invited or tried to invite some of your friends but we didn’t make your life easy for that. Now Gmail, Yahoo or Hotmail users can import their contacts and choose who to invite to Pearltrees very easily. With more people, there will be so much more pearls to explore and great content to discover. Come on, invite your friends!

4/ A better display for your pearltrees

You may have encountered some pearltrees that look like big palm trees or big wheels. It may be nice visually but it’s not really practical to manipulate or to get a quick overview. So, we decided to change some rules. First, the most recent pearls will come on the top left (vs. bottom right before). Second, pearltrees in which the links between two pearls become too long, will be reorganized automatically. In the end, it will offer a better display to every Pearltrees users.

Vous allez voir, la beta 0.7.2 de Pearltrees est géniale ! Ce mois-ci, nous avons concentré nos efforts sur un seul objectif : améliorer votre exploration du web !

Alors, qu’est ce qui change ?

1/ Plus rapide que l’éclair !

• Moins de clics : plus besoin de cliquer sur une perle pour voir le contenu dans la fenêtre de détail. Un simple survol suffit!

• L’effet préchargement ! Lorsque vous parcourez un pearltree, Pearltrees précharge les perles suivantes. Lorsque vous cliquez les pages s’ouvrent beaucoup plus vite. Pearltrees rend le web plus rapide ! Cependant, il nous faudra une quinzaine de jours pour traiter les 2 millions de perles déjà présentes dans Pearltrees. Il faudra donc patienter encore quelques jours avant de pouvoir en profiter pleinement!

2/ Plus simple et plus pratique !

Nous avons travailler dur pour que Pearltrees soit aussi confortable que possible. Voilà les fonctionnalités que cela nous a permis d’ajouter :

• Des indications sur les boutons autour des perles

• Des animations pour illustrer vos actions

• Les informations clés et et les titres des perles lorsque la fenêtre détail est fermée.

• L’affichage plein écran des vidéos dans le navigateur. Cette amélioration est pour l’instant compatible avec les services videos les plus répandus (Youtube, Dailymotion…) et continuera à se développer pour supporter tous les services!

3/ Plus on est de fous plus on rit

Vous avez déjà essayé d’inviter certains de vos amis sur Pearltrees, mais vous trouviez ça un peu laborieux ? Et bien vous pouvez maintenant inviter facilement et en une seule fois tous vos contacts Gmail, Yahoo, et Hotmail ! Plus il y aura de monde sur Pearltrees, plus il y aura de perles à découvrir et partager ! Alors lancez-vous, invitez vos amis!

4/ Une meilleure visibilité pour vos pearltrees

Vous avez sans doute déjà croisé des pearltrees qui ressemblaient à des palmiers ou à des grandes roues. C’est amusant à voir, mais peu pratique à manier et à explorer. Nous avons donc décider de changer quelques règles. D’abord, la perle la plus récente sera maintenant placée en haut à gauche de votre pearltree. Ensuite, si le lien entre deux perles devient trop long, le pearltree sera automatiquement réorganisé. Le résultat ? Une bien meilleure visibilité pour tous les utilisateurs de Pearltrees.

We love streamlining the Pearltrees’ experience: fewer clicks here, faster access there, all that to let you easily organize, share and discover the stuff you like. Today we’d like to introduce the 0.7.1 release of Pearltrees. Here’s a list of what we’ve added and improved:

1/ Navigate easily in your account

With this new button in the upper right corner, you can access in one click to one of your pearltree to retrieve old pearls or store new ones. It displays your account with all your pearltrees in a tree shape, just like in Pearltrees’ extension.

2/ Experience a nicer event feed

You can now see the avatars in the event feed and some notifications are grouped so that you’re not flooded with new events.

3/ Make specific searches

Pearltrees lets you focus your search on your pearltrees only or on people’s account only. Just click the type of search you want to use below the search box.

4/ Use a new function in the “Direct go”

While browsing the novelties in the pearltrees you’ve picked, you can now choose to directly go to the next pearltree!

5/ Pick and organize directly others pearltrees!

Now, you can not only explore, discover and pick others’ pearltrees, you can also organize them without going back to your account. Simply choose where you want to put them in the list.

6/ A bit of SEO…

We’ve put a link in each super embed so that search engines can find an embedded pearltree more easily. Don’t hesitate anymore: embed pearltrees in your blog and your pearls will get more visibility!
