What’s a Team?

A team within Pearltrees is a group of people who have come together to collaboratively curate a common interest.
When you want to join a team, just click on the “team up” button to send a request.

As soon as your request has been accepted, you’ll be able to curate the pearltree with the other team members.
Each member can add and organize the pearls and pearltrees of the team.
Each member can also decide to accept or invite other members to expand the team.

The founder has some privileges : he can express his objectives for the pearltree to the team in the editorial panel, and he’s the only one who can create subteams.
Lastly, each member can send private messages to the team and has an access to the history of the team where he can recover pearls or pearltrees that would have been deleted.

  1. How do i start a group

  2. There are two ways:

Either you find an interesting pearltree curated by someone, and click on the “Team up” button to send him a request.
Or you can curate your own pearltrees, and then invite people to join you by sending them your pearltree 🙂

  3. How do you create a team though?

  4. Hi,
If you find an interesting pearltree, you can ask to team up with its creator.
If you have curated a pearltree, just send it to people you want to teamp up with, and once they have picked it, send them a team up request

  5. When the founder decides to delete the pearltree, will the members not have access to the pearltree anymore?

  6. Hi jdasbau,
When the founder leaves the team, the team will keep existing for other members 🙂

  7. I have been invited to become part of a Pearltree team. I already have an account. How do I join this group’s Pearltree so that I can contribute pearls? Please provide step by step instructions from my account login to joining their Pearltree. Thank you.

  8. Hi judowens,

Once you’re logged in Pearltrees, you will see a notification in the team feed (in the upper right corner). Just click on it, and there you can chose to accept or refuse the invitation.
If you accept it, then you will be able to organize the pearltree with the other team members 🙂

  9. I joined a team but I don’t see my Pearl anywhere off that team’s tree. Why is that?

  10. Now that you have joined the team, you will see your avatar in the list of the members, if you click on the team profile, and you can add the pearls you want in the team’s pearltree

  11. I’ve been added to a team but I no longer want to be a part of it. How can I leave a team?

    Thank you!

  12. It’s very easy : in the detail window of the team, click on “editing tools”, and then on “leave the team”.
This is only available on Pearltrees’ web version (on http://www.pearltrees.com )
If you’re using Pearltrees iPad app, just drag and drop the team pearltree to the trash bin 🙂

  13. How do you remove members from a team that you started?

  14. Hi megharder,
you can’t remove a member for the moment.
But you can start discussing with with him/her with private messages in order to manage an issue with him/her:)
Also, if there were a problem, let us know (participation@pearltrees.com) and we’ll have a look.

  15. Hi, I really need to remove a team member as he is a curator of highly obscene stuff. Please instate a Remove button for us team leaders. This is really a fatal flaw not to have a remove feature.

    Thanks!

  16. Hi ciqua,
Thank you for your feedback. We understand the need for such a feature and will consider it very seriously for the next improvements of Pearltrees.

  17. Hi, is it possible to “merge” teams? Like all of it’s members and branches?

  18. Hi,
It’s not possible to merge teams. Yet, I’m interested in knowing why do you’d like to do this ?
    Thanks !

  19. What happens when one team joins another team? My team was asked to join someone else’s ream. If I accept,, will my team dissolve? Will it become a sub team, whatever that is? Or will something else happen?

  20. When a team is added to another team it becomes a subteam of the new team. This means all the original team members of the new parent team will join your existing team.

  21. Also, will I lose founder privileges?

  22. Hi, Chris. If you accept to allow your team to join another team your current team would become a sub-team like you suggest. This means that in addition to your current team-mates, all the members of the team that has asked you to join would also become members of your existing team. You would still be the founder of your original team.

  23. Hello, I have created a team for a particular pearltrees. In that particular pearltress, we have decided to reorganise some pearls in new sub-pearltrees, so as to facilitate our work of curation. Our problem is that when we now add new pearls to those sub-pearltrees, we don’t get the team notifications we used to. In fact, on those sub-pearltrees, we are not a team. We are a team only on the original parent.

My question is this: is there a way to tell Pearltrees we wanna be a team on a pearltrees, and all of its present and/or future sub-pearltrees? I would like to know if there is a quick way to do that, or if we need to re-team every time we create a sub-pearltrees.

    Hope this is clear,

    Thanks,

    Éric

  24. Hi Eric,

Normally, when you are a member of a team you get notified when a new pearl is added to one of the sub pearltree of the team. If you think you didn’t get the notification for a specific pearl, can you please send us :
    – the pearl
    – the sub pearltree in which it has been added
    – your username

It will help us investigate to see what’s happening.

    Kind regards
    Antoine

  25. Ok,

I will make some tests and I’ll come back on this.

    Thanks for your answer,

    Éric

  26. Hi Antoine,

one of the team members added a pearl yesterday and I did not get a notification. Here are the informations you want:

pearl: 7 Things You Should Know About Wikies

the sub pearltree: eric_poirier -> Éducation -> Projet TIC -> Recherche de documentation -> Les wikis en éducation (utilisation) -> Carl

    Thanks,

    Éric

    my username: eric_poirier

  27. Thank you, we’ll have a look and I’ll come back to you 🙂
In the meantime, can you tell me precisely which notification you are missing please?

  28. I can see the notifications when one of the team member write a comment on a pearl,, but I am missing the notifications when a team mate adds a pearl to one of the sub pearltrees of the ”Projet TIC” pearltrees.

The “Projet TIC” pearltrees is the one from which our team was formed.

    Thank you

    Éric

  29. Do you mean that you don’t get a preview of the page in the “new” button, just on the left of the “notifications” button ?

  30. Ok, I see them. Il thought they would appear in the ”notification” button. I thought the ”new” button had another purpose. Thanks for your time!

    Éric

  31. I need to create a team for a pearl that has “Teams Inside.” Is this possible? If not is there a workaround besides freezing every lower pearl member and adding them back?

  32. Hi,
It’s impossible to create a team on a pearltree that has teams inside itself. The “freezing” workaround you mention is the best solution in this case.
    Kind regards

  33. Hi, I´m having problems trying to team up people to my pearltress. I’ve sent someone the invitation, but they can’t accept, the bottons don’t appear, how can I correct this??
    Thanks, Sofía

  34. Hi, Sofia. I’d be happy to try and help you resolve your problem. Please send me an email with a more specific description of what is happening (with screen shots if possible).

My email is: participation @ pearltrees.com

    Thank you!

    Oliver

  35. Hi! I am entirely new so I might not have gotten the terminology right But my question is: I want to team up with different categories of teachers and I don’t want all of them to have access to everything (it will just be confusing) but only certain pearltrees. Is that possible or is it “all or nothing”? I also want to share some “pearltrees ” with students but I don’t want them to have access to everything.

  37. Hi, Erika. The level of privacy control you are describing is part of our premium feature set. When you become premium you can create private pearltrees that only you can see as well as private teams shared among a select group.

You can also create pearltrees that you alone control but that other people can only view.

In order for two people to fully collaborate on a private team, both accounts must be premium.

Finally you can create private pearltrees and share the link (for example embedding it in a facebook page) knowing that this link will only allow access for thirty days.

If you have more questions you can write to our team directly: participation at pearltrees dot com.

  38. Asking questions are truly glod thing if you are not understanding something totally, however this piece of
    writing presents fasfidious understanding yet.
